Carrie Lee, Payroll Reconciliation Specialist + Billing Support

Carrie is Bloom’s Payroll Reconciliation Specialist + Billing Support and a pivotal part of the behind-the-scenes team that keeps Bloom—and our providers—moving forward.

Carrie began her journey in the mental health field in 2018, working as a part-time bookkeeper and backup receptionist for a counseling practice right here in Iowa. It was there that she discovered an unexpected passion for the world of medical billing and coding and decided to turn that interest into a career. She went on to complete specialized training and become a Certified Billing and Coding Specialist and Certified Medical Administrative Assistant. 

Since then, Carrie has built years of experience in medical billing, credentialing, and healthcare administration, including serving in billing and credentialing leadership roles within mental health and other healthcare settings. She has developed a particular understanding of the complexities that come with mental health billing, insurance benefits, and maintaining accurate client accounts. 

At Bloom, Carrie works closely with our leadership and administrative teams to support provider payroll reconciliation and our overall insurance and billing flow. She assists with claim remittance, denied and appealed claims, corrections and adjustments, insurance follow-up, and the reconciliation necessary to ensure our providers are compensated accurately. In other words, Carrie helps untangle many of the complicated things happening behind the scenes so our providers can spend more of their time focused on caring for their clients.

As Bloom continues to grow, Carrie is an integral part of creating consistency, accuracy, and communication between our providers, billing processes, and insurance companies. She understands how important financial clarity is within mental healthcare and brings both knowledge and attention to detail to a part of the client and provider experience that can often feel anything but simple.

Outside of work, Carrie loves traveling, exploring new places, and attending Renaissance fairs. Whether she is navigating an insurance issue or planning her next adventure, Carrie brings experience, problem-solving, and plenty of personality to everything she does.
