Our Therapists

Courtney Kauffman, T-LMHC

Modalities: CBT, ACT, ERP

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Northern Iowa, where my love for understanding people and their stories began. After graduating, I went to work for a nonprofit and had an experience that shaped me deeply, and ultimately helped me find my calling in counseling. I went on to earn my Master of Science in Clinical Counseling at Buena Vista and have been working in private practice ever since.

I am currently working toward full licensure under clinical supervision. I work with individuals ages 11 and up, supporting clients navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, and OCD.

What My Support Looks Like

Before anything else, I believe in the relationship. The connection we build together is the foundation of everything. It is truly what makes the hard work possible. I strive to create a space where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and never judged.

From that foundation, I utilize evidence-based approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and exposure and response prevention (ERP), alongside client-centered care that honors your unique story and goals. Whether you’re facing a major life change, struggling with persistent worry, or working through OCD, I’ll meet you where you are and walk alongside you at your pace.

In My Free Time You Can Find Me…

When I’m not in session, you can find me on the pickleball court or settling into a theater seat for the latest release, sometimes both in the same day if I’m lucky! I love the energy of both; the friendly competition of pickleball and the way a good film can make you feel something unexpected.
